SPRING AWAKENING PERFORMED AT THE STUDIO THEATRE FROM AUGUST 22ND-25TH

Spring Awakening Promo Video

It's 1891, and grown-ups hold all the cards. Headstrong Melchior and naive Wendla stumble into each others arms, passionate and curious, while anxious Moritz struggles to live up to the stringent expectations of society. With only each other for guidance, this group of young men and women travel the fraught and rocky path of adolescence, discovering their bodies, their minds, and themselves along the way.

Based on Frank Wedekinds groundbreaking and controversial play, the rock score by Duncan Sheik and searingly emotional book and lyrics provided by Steven Sater take the story of sexual awakening, youth revolt, and self-discovery into a new century.

SPRING AWAKENING is a part of Spectra Theatre Co.'s Pre-Professional Experience, which was developed in direct response to university BFA programs. Spectra Theatre Co.'s Pre-Professional Experience is a cutting-edge, exciting opportunity for all who want to be involved in the future of professional, innovative theatre. Artists (from actors to stage managers) selected for the experience work independently, applying their educational background to produce a show on a similar timeline to that of a professional theatre.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO AUDITIONED!

Tabula Rasa is a student organization that acts as a production company for student led theatre. Their mission is to help students further their own personal projects and give students opportunities to perform, design, and direct that they may not get within the university or through other outlets.

Their previous season included And Then Some, a piece written by a fellow student, Elaina Creighton, that has given us an amazing opportunity to workshop an entirely new piece of theatre; Hand to God, which was nominated for five Tony Awards in its 2015 Broadway run; and the Funk! cabaret, a charity event for the Briley Blade Foundation. Previous productions include FormsThe Shit ShowHand Grenades, and Razia’s Shadow. We are very excited to partner with Spectra for Spring Awakening!
